Prix Ex Aequo is an international festival aiming to support production and presentation of radio plays for children and youth, as well as the international exchange of theoretical, technical and professional skills and know-how in the field of radio drama.
The competition is organized by Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The festival welcomed its very first participants in 1996 and has been held since then as biennial every two years. Its focus on the radio drama production for children and youth makes it unique within the EBU events.
During the long-term existence of the competition, numerous radio productions from both Europe and beyond, including Canada, Australia, Algeria, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea or Cuba, had been evaluated by international juries, set up of experts in children-focused literature and dramatic creation.
